I had such a blast this halloween…not surprising since its one of my favourite holidays of the year (mostly because I look forward to putting together costumes and seeing what other people have crafted together. Extra bonus points to those who are super creative and build out some elaborate costumes!)
This year I put together a Sia costume which originated with me trying to find the easiest and quickest costume I could find that would still be something entertaining, everyone would know who I was and I could simply just grab something out of my closet that I would normally wear (which had the 99% likelihood of being all black and completely covered up). So… I ordered the wig on Amazon, gave it some brushing, cut the bangs to the perfect length and then spent the better part of an hour (before I went out) cutting up an old bedsheet, using packing foam from a shipping box, needle & thread and some sequined elastic, creating a massive bow which I then sewed directly to the wig.
Initially I thought the bow was too large but after doing some google image searching, I think I hit it right on the money… not bad for eyeballing the size I was cutting the fabric to haha. I think my only mistake was I should have used the brighter of my red lipsticks since the one I chose ended up being a little bit more of a wine red rather than a true red. All in all, Friday night was a success!
For my Saturday night, I had big plans to do something elaborate with my makeup. At first it was supposed to be a half-melted-skull-face thing that I saw on youtube… then I thought, no… rhinestones… rhinestones everywhere… but that would have been a 3 hour process and had I felt more motivated I probably would have gone that route but that afternoon there wasn’t anything I wanted more than a nap soooo… that’s what happened, which left me only an hour to put something together. Which left me to going out as.. well,… myself. HAHA
Sunday however was probably the most exciting of the days this Halloween weekend since it was Dog Halloween Trick or Treating in Old Town Alexandria!! So naturally, Presley had to don a cute costume and get some biscuits!
This Halloween weekend was unseasonably warm in our area, so unfortunately Presley wasn’t able to wear his original costume we had picked out (so we’re going to save that costume for next year)…thankfully we had a backup! He went out as BatPug (not Ben Affleck batman but as Adam West batman.. sorry Batfleck) Man was he cute! We didn’t hit all of the stores that were participating since we started halfway through and he was getting a little tired after walking half of King street, but he made out with 32 biscuits!
After some successful Trick or Treating, we ended our afternoon with Brunch at Virtue where Presley ordered himself a Chicken and Rice dish from their dog menu and some frozen yogurt 😀
As for Halloween day, which was a Monday this year, and perfectly timed, the first day of my new jobby job… I decided to show up as the UX Unicorn haha.
Now that October is officially over and we’re starting a new month, I’m ultra excited about all the stuff coming up… Thanksgiving, chillier days and colder nights, leaves falling down, the holidays… and all of the food! I’ll have to make a reminder to post something in regards to some of my favorite holiday dishes that I’ll be cooking this Fall.
That’s it for now. I’ll be posting some stuff on our new house, all the trips we took in the last two months and more!
