Summertime in Virginia means no pups at the beach during peak hours between Memorial Day and Labor Day… so you bet we snuck in some time and got our puppy toes in the sand before the big weekend! Keep reading to see more ultra cute photos of my little man, Presley.
Make sure if you are taking your pups to the beach that you always keep an eye on them. Some pups (like Pres) can get a little excited and run into the water and get knocked over or pulled in. Pres isn’t much of a swimmer so I’ve always got my eyes on him when he’s running a little close to the ocean.
Always make sure that you’ve got a waterbowl and fresh water on hand. Never let your pup drink ocean water and always make sure they’re hydrated! Being out there in the warm sun can take a lot out of a pup.
Don’t over work them. If its warm out and they need a break, its a great opportunity to hang out in the sand or in the shade with your loved ones. If you’re going to be out for an extended period of time and the sun is in full force, just like you’ve got your sunscreen on hand, you might also want to have some doggie sunscreen available as well. Yup! There’s sunscreen for dogs!
And lastly, pay close attention to your furbabies. When they’ve had their fill, they’ll definitely let you know. Pres needed a little lift back to the car from our long afternoon. Be safe and enjoy the weather! Summer isn’t officially here yet but it sure feels like it 🙂
