Just because the weather is chillier and the days are shorter doesn’t mean your soft colors and textures in your wardrobe have to go into hibernation! Keep reading to check out more photos of this look and some shopping ideas inspired by it!
There are 3 ways to stay warm in the winter. There’s wearing the heaviest of knits, layering and staying indoors (4 if you include vacationing somewhere warm but we’ll save that for another post).
I’ve featured this dress in a post over the summer (which can be seen HERE). While getting ready to go out to dinner with B, I decided it was time to bust it out of the closet again. This time under some layers. Paired with some heavy opaque tights, ankleboots (that I never wear… this was only the second actual time they’ve been out of the house since I bought them) and a charcoal gray leather jacket.
I wish I had more photos of the details of this jacket. Its quite stunning in person. Here’s the back. The tails add a hint of drama to it and are the sole reason why I splurged on it at All Saints.
Here’s a closeup of my ankle boots.
Since the temps have been dropping, a leather jacket sometimes isn’t enough to keep you warm, especially by the waterfront, so I threw on a cozy stole to add some warmth.
Ever since this mini Kanken bag by Fjållråven arrived at my door I’ve been completely in love with it. Sometimes I regret having covered it in studs (nothing like late night arts and crafting in your room) but I think it adds to the fun. My Kanken bag collection has been growing and for the past 2 years I have found them to be more useful and versatile than most all of my purses.
Fur Stole – Vintage / Leather Tail-Coat – All Saints / Layered Dress – H&M / Stacked Rings – H&M / Kanken Mini Backpack – Fjållråven / Furry Critter Keychain – Bowties and Caviar (Price upon request – Email) / Opaque Tights – Target / Buckled Lace Up Ankle Boots – Steve Madden
How have you been layering your warmer weather pieces to repurpose them for the colder months?
Below is a board I’ve created with pieces inspired by this look. Happy layering, happy shopping, and keep warm!
