Hi Friends!!! Sorry I’ve been away for the past few days. I’ve been dealing with a pesky wrist injury I got from the race and for the most part, taking it easy on some personal projects in order to stay on top of day to day responsibilities. 🙂 Finally getting a chance to get back to Bowties and Caviar, I thought it would be a great day to post some photos from the race that kept me away from you lovelies for what feels like forever! Keep reading to see more photos!
On Saturday July 26th, B and I ran our very first (and definitely won’t be our last) Spartan Race! I always told myself that I have to at least run one of these in my lifetime, and now that I’m 30, I figure what better time than now!
Unfortunately there weren’t many pictures of us on the site, and if they are, we must have missed them through the countless images we had to sift through to find these few. The race was so much fun. Definitely recommend everyone give an obstacle race a try. They’re way more fun and exciting than a normal race on pavement, trust me, I had a blast!
It was surprisingly fun putting aside all the pretty dresses and heels and trading them for workout tights and tops with running shoes for the day and instead of wearing makeup, getting covered from head to toe in mud. I know, doesn’t sound like a total blasty blast but it really was. It was such a treat getting to meet so many people, work together to complete obstacles, surprising myself at how much stronger I am than I originally thought I was and the amazing feeling of getting to that finish line, jumping over the fire and knowing that you completed the entire course!
Here are a few pictures I found of B during the race. I couldn’t find a photo of me in the Barbed-wire mud pit but it’s probably for the best, I was covered!
I was so happy that B ran the race with me! He completed the race much earlier than I did with a much better time but it was so nice seeing him wait for me at the finish line <3 <3 <3
And here I am at the very end! After the race, we decided we definitely want to complete the full trifecta next year (3 races in one year). Once I figure out all the dates, if anyone wants to tag along, I’ll definitely pass around the team info so you can join!!! It would be the best to get a bunch of friends together for the next one!
xoxo
Much respect to you for taking on this brutal challenge. I saw highlights of the New York Spartan Race once on NBC Sports Network and just can’t imagine lasting even one minute in that competition. For you to take part in this is certainly worthy of respect. It also assures your awesomeness outside of fashion and other things. 🙂 Cool stuff!
