July 2014 – Products I’m Loving Right Now

Health & Wellness, Shopping Ideas / July 1, 2014

DSC_0006

Happy July 1st everyone!!! I didn’t have time to take an outfit post this morning before work so after doing my makeup for work, I decided to take a quick few photos of the products that I’ve been using every day before I rushed out the door. Keep reading to get a full listing of these items and where to find them! <3

You’ll have to excuse the lack of creativity here, I was running at little late this morning (oops) but here’s what I’ve been using in my daily routine.  I can’t stress enough how amazing it feels to streamline my makeup routine and simplify my daily look.  I’ve grown quite fond of the natural look and am definitely beginning to believe less is more. Not to mention being able to do my makeup in 5-6 minutes flat every day is the best!

Ok for all the products featured here from left to right:

Benefit Cosmetics –  They’re Real! Push-Up Liner ($24 USD) Get Yours Here

I was lucky enough to receive this a month ago from Benefit and I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with it.  Everyone that knows me, knows that I’m an eyeliner fanatic.  I’ve tried creams, liquids, khols, etc and while I always find something I like about each liner, this one definitely takes the cake on all fronts.  Its neat, never needs sharpening, goes on smooth like a cream but long lasting like a waterproof liquid and the brush tip is soft and easily glides across the eyelid leaving a matte inky black line that you can get real close to your lashline when you need your lashes to look darker and thicker and also allow you to create a bold wing with awesome precision.  Plus its a twist-to-dispense type of liner so no more messes.  High-five to benefit for also making the top a screw on top so there wont be any caps falling off in purses and creating a makeup explosion nightmare.  You can get yours now at retailers that carry Benefit products as it was just released in stores today!!!! If you missed the link, here it is again to get yours : Buy Me!

Make Up For Ever – HD High Definition Foundation ($42 USD) Get Yours Here

So, it always feels like I’m on a quest for the perfect foundation.  When I ran out of my usual MAC Fluid Fix foundation I decided to go back to Make Up For Ever.  My usual go-to is their Mat Velvet, but I went with the HD Foundation this time around and couldn’t be happier.  The ‘Invisible Cover’ is great for evening out complexions at the same time appearing light enough that it looks like you’re not even wearing anything but a tinted moisturizer.  Its absolutely wonderful.  Perfect for the summer.  Its long lasting, lightweight and buildable.

Dior – Miss Dior Eau de Parfum ($115 3.4 oz) Get Yours Here

I usually only have 1 (2 at most) fragrance in rotation.  I know women aren’t supposed to reveal their ‘secret’ scent but a lot of friends and family have asked what I wear every day and here it is!  For a while D&G  L’Imperatrice was my signature scent for the longest time.  When that ran up, I went shopping for another scent.  Naturally I took B with me so he could help me decide.  This was the winner and has been ever since.  I wear it every day and love how girly and delicate it is.

NYX Cosmetics The Natural Eyeshadow Palette ($7.49 USD, now $4.49 at Ulta) Get Yours Here

Honestly, the only reason why I bought this was so I could simplify my makeup bag for my last trip.  Packing is such a pain sometimes and carrying a bunch of individual eyeshadows can do a number on your efforts to save space.  I found this at Target while running errands and have grown rather fond of it!  NYX has some well put together palettes.  This one was perfect.  I use it for more than just my eyes.  The darkest shade works great for a brow powder (for brunettes), the second shade when applied lightly with a soft powder brush works great for highlights, the third shadow I use for extremely light contouring, and the other three work so great for creating a super natural look.  Depending on what you’re looking for, there’s also a great smokey palette as well as a darker set of naturals for those with deeper skintones. For the price, its not bad at all 🙂 (Plus its super thin and easy to tote around in your makeup bag)

Lipstick Queen – Hello Sailor Lipstick ($25.00 USD) Get Yours Here

If you missed it, I did a review on this product a bit ago, which you can check out HERE.  Lipstick Queen came out with this awesome product that is the halfway point between a lip conditioner and a sheer tint.  The cool sheer blackberry tint of this lippie simply enhances your natural lip colour and works with all skintones.  Its great for every day use and the best part is you don’t even need a mirror to apply it.  B has even noticed that sometimes it appears brighter as the day goes on but still really subtle.  Either way, I’ve fallen in love with this lipstick.

Make Up For Ever – Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation ($36 USD) Get Yours Here

I actually only use this as a setting powder, applying a really light dusting over my HD Foundation to reduce shine on my face but this powder can also be used as a full foundation when applied as so.  Its a great compact to carry around in your purse for when you need touchups, great for covering imperfections, setting liquid foundations as well as on its own.  Its a buildable coverage and will go on as light and sheer as you you apply it.  I love it for its ability to blend well with my skin.  And as always, MUFE provides a wide range of shades to fit everyone’s needs.

Avene – Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water Spray 1.76oz ($20 3 pack) Get Yours Here

So this was given to me by my sister.  I have been using ELF Vitamin spray and have used Evian spray in the past but since I’m out of both, this has been a great refresher spray to have around.  I’m not particularly picky about water sprays but this one stands out from the others I’ve tried in the past.  I mean, its water in a can, but for long trips on a bus/train/plane, the extra hydration can be really soothing and moisturizing not to mention a great way to ‘wake your skin up’ after a long trip.  Sometimes I like to mist my face lightly to prep it before applying any products.  I also like that the packaging is less obnoxious than the Evian cans.  Perfect purse size as well.

Eve Lom – Kiss Mix Lip Treatment ($22 USD) Get Yours Here

Like the Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor lipstick, I covered this product as well HERE.  I use this lip treatment moisturizer before I apply any lipstick, even Hello Sailor despite it being a lip treatment as well.  Like during the colder months, the warmer months can also do a number on your lips.  Sun exposure can dry out, burn and damage your lips.  I apply this while I’m doing the rest of my makeup to give it time to get absorbed.  It leaves my lips extra moisturized and prepped for any sort of lip colour.  This product also contains a bit of peppermint extract in it to naturally add a bit of plump to your pout 🙂

Benefit Cosmetics – They’re Real Mascara ($22 USD) Get Yours Here

I have the finest eyelashes ever.  They’re fine, and not all too long, so I need all the help I can get in the eyelash department.  I’ve tried countless brands and so far this one has made it into my top 3 favourite mascaras!  The formula isn’t as robust and heavy like its competitors MUFE Smokey Lash and the ever popular Dior Show, but it does make up for its lack of weight in its amazing brush.  The brush on this mascara is great.  It allows you to get really close to the base of your lashes and does such an amazing job separating your lashes to prevent clumps.  The seemingly thinner formula glides on a lot better, leaving a smoother, more natural looking finish and bonds well with your eyelashes so it gives the appearance of longer lashes, rather than lashes covered in mascara.  The tip of the brush is great for getting tricky lashes as well as adding to lift and curl and coating the bottom lashes.  Its long-wearing, doesn’t clump, enhances your lashes rather than making them look fake so its great for every occasion and doesn’t flake.  It stays on all day but is not a pain to wash off and doesn’t leave you with raccoon eyes the next morning if you forget to remove your makeup.

What products do you currently have in rotation and are loving for the summer?

xoxo
