Continuing on my quest to find different ways to dress up non-dressy pieces as well as finding ways to make use of what my closet already has to offer, I came across these cargo pants my mom bought me years back that still had the tags on them! Always trying to find ways to ‘change up’ average work-day attire without breaking any ‘real’ rules, I was determined to find a way to multi-purpose some pieces I own. This pair of cargo pants… such a great discovery in my dresser! My mom gave me these after one of her many sale shopping adventures a few years ago. For a while I struggled to find a way to wear these without them looking too ‘baggy’, ‘unflattering’ or too ‘boyish’ (My lack of curviness doesn’t help).
Lately I’ve been on this cuffing my pants kick. Its warm enough for my ankles to not freeze and fall off, its a solution for pants that look entirely too long for me and best of all, it makes me appear a little taller than I actually am (at least I hope it does.. I’m only 5’1″)
Here’s what I’m wearing:
- Black Single Button Blazer (H&M)
- White Tank Top (Old Navy)
- Olive Green Straight Leg Cargo Pants (Ann Taylor LOFT)
- 120mm Pigalle Spikes (CL)
- Oversized Dual Tone Watch (Michael Kors)
- Ladybug Pendant Necklace (Tiffany & Co.)
Rather than stacking on the jewelry, I kept this outfit really simple (although I think some would agree with me that a massive statement necklace would also look pretty stellar with this…note to self for the next time I decide to wear this out). The lack of major accessorizing allows for this outfit to feel more casual and comfortable.
The blazer dresses this up enough to look put together and professional for work. The fitted tank and straight legged cargo pants make it super comfortable and fun. The shoes add enough edginess to keep it from looking bland and are flirty enough for a night out with the girls or even date night attire! The best part about it is that this same look will work on pretty much all body types and heights!
How would you mix and match this look to work for you? Keep reading for some shopping ideas I’ve put together that were inspired by this look 🙂
