Growing up in Southern Virginia, I learned that a little Southern style never hurt anyone. Keep reading to check out more photos of this outfit featuring this colour blocked dress and my little cowboy boots as well as some shopping ideas inspired by this look!
This outfit is pretty fun… and extremely comfortable. From top to bottom lets get started :
- Denim vest (Levis)
- Colour-blocked Dress (Gifted to me by my sister)
- Leather belt (Anthropologie / Shop Nebula )
- Dual Toned Oversized Watch (Michael Kors)
- Kanken Mini Daypack (Fjållraven)
- Cowboy boots (Mossimo)
I purchased a denim jacket from the Levi’s store a few years back and no matter how many times I washed and dried it, the sleeves never fit to my arms right and always seemed a bit baggy even though the body of the jacket was just fine. About a year ago, I finally got tired of seeing this jacket hang in my closet, never worn due to fit and just begging to see the light of day… it was either get rid of it or do something about it. Of course I decided to figure out some way to incorporate it into my wardrobe without looking like I was an extra from Saved By The Bell, soooo out came the scissors and off went the sleeves!
The dress in this outfit is pretty fun. Its a polyester / silk blend so it falls nicely and keeps its shape without stretch. The fit is loose so I added a belt to cinch it at the waist (even though it has a tie for the waist I thought the belt worked a little better with this look). The belt I’m wearing was also featured in a previous look which you can see HERE . As for a purse, I went with my Kanken Mini Day-pack. Its super functional yet cute in a non-distracting way. Plus the orange worked out really well with the colours I was wearing… I’m considering ordering more from Fjållraven!
Lastly, my little brown boots!
For the longest time I’ve had the want for a pair of cowboy boots floating around in the back of my mind. Over the years, I never actually invested in a pair because regardless of how much I wanted some, I also wasn’t sure if I’d really like how they would look on me… or that they wouldn’t feel ‘right’. While at Target one evening I saw these and thought, they’re perfect for giving western styled boots a go… and so they went into my shopping basket and I was on my way. They’re a pretty weather-proofed pair of faux leather boots. The padding is great in them and they’re really comfortable. I’ve grown fond enough of them that I recently purchased a leather pair of cowboy boots the other week which I’m looking forward to sharing with you!
