Spring means florals, pastels, Parisian inspired pieces, soft fabrics and fun and flirty pieces! Everyone that knows me really well, knows I love to gravitate towards darker, richer, and harsher colours…but lately I’ve been trying to break free of that 😉 Keep reading to see more photos of this outfit and some shopping ideas inspired by this look! Also… Happy Friday!
This dress has been in my closet since the winter months and I have been dying to pull it from my closet and let it see the light of day… finally the weather has cooperated enough for that to finally happen! This beautiful vintage dress was from The Nebula Shop, a wonderful vintage collector, seller and stylist I’ve been supporting and has been supporting me in our loves for fashion! Never disclosing her secret list of special places to search for vintage pieces, it’s always fun when she finds one of a kind vintage picks that come in my size. (It’s also wonderful to have a friend that is just as in love with gypsy pieces!)
This dress caught my eye because of the soft pastels and the massive exaggerated collar! Alone it can work as a great spring/summer evening piece but with a cardigan thrown on top, it can be work friendly. Adding a cardigan also helps break up the florals and give the dress a ‘skirt’ appearance.
The collar is so amazing! I love that it extends all the way around. The fabric is soft and slightly stretchy and hugs in all the right places without feeling restrictive. It falls gently, keeps its structure but also allows for plenty of movement so walking in it is a breeze and there’s no need to pull and fight with it.
The cardigan I paired this dress with is from Old Navy. A simple button up, collarless, v-neck cardigan that hits right at the waist. I kind of wish it was a crew neck rather than a v-neck but it still fit well under the collar. The pieces to this outfit are pretty clean and simple:
- Purple Cardigan (Old Navy)
- Collared Floral Dress (Vintage / The Nebula Shop)
- Pigalle 120mm spiked Pumps (Louboutin)
- Dual Tone Oversized Watch (Michael Kors)
- Cat-eye Eyeglasses (Rayban / From Lenscrafters with prescription lenses)
Not to compete with the bold sweater or the floral patterns on the skirt, I went with a more neutral shoe. I originally was going to style this look with a nude pump but went with a pale nude/pink since it blended better with the colours of the skirt. To add a little edge to the outfit, I went with a spiked pair. That and these darlings have been in their box for a few days and I had been waiting for the right outfit and opportunity to take them out for a spin since they were delivered from Neiman Marcus. What better to pair them with than vintage!
And of course it wouldn’t be a proper shoot without Presley Pug making an appearance! Below are some shopping ideas inspired by this look! How do you like to incorporate vintage into your wardrobe?
