Lately I’ve been way into floral patterned things, pinks, purples and other soft spring pastels, despite it being hard to tear myself away from my usual all black outfits. Here’s a fun spring outfit that’s fun yet still work appropriate. Keep reading to see more photos of this outfit and shopping ideas inspired by this look.
Recently I had an interview to attend and as always, I didn’t know what to wear. While pondering what to wear, Brendan said “don’t go in a suit, wear something that’s more ‘you'” so I did. I picked this dress out of my closet because it had a black base colour and wasn’t too too loud, the flowers made it pop but its spring so florals are more than acceptable, paired it with some matching pink pumps that appeared pretty neutral and weren’t too tall.
The harness was just to cinch the dress a little more at the waist since it’s a little strange on me without due to my lack of curves 🙁 and the soft cropped pink hoodie matched really well with it and pulled the look together. If this were a more formal interview, I would have paired it with my black cuffed blazer from my previous outfit post instead.
Adding the hoodie to this outfit was more function than form since it’s usually a little chilly in offices and later that evening it was a little humid out so it helped keep my hair in order.
Lastly, to add to the sweetness of the dress and so the skirt appeared fuller and had more movement to it, I wore my Tutu skirt underneath. It added a little extra texture to the look with the ruffles peaking out from the bottom of the skirt, added an extra 2 inches of length to the dress overall and gave the outfit more shape.
I definitely think the final product was a good representation of my bubbly personality without being too in your face. This outfit works well for other spring events and also transitions well from day to evening. Here are all of the pieces in this outfit:
- Pink Cropped Hoodie (Urban Outfitters)
- Black Harness Belt (BCBG)
- Cat-eye Glasses (Lenscrafters / Ray Ban)
- Floral Collared Dress (Urban Outfitters)
- Ruffled Tutu Skirt (American Apparel)
- Pink Bow Pumps (BCBG)
How do you add a little bit of your personality into your work/office/interview outfits? Below are some shopping ideas inspired by this look.
