Hi Friends!  Since this blog is not just about hair, makeup and fashion, I thought I’d post about a purchase I made the other month (also because I’m busy waiting for Diablo III to install on my new computer that arrived this week)… my new gaming headset!

Several weeks ago I decided to order a new headset for my computer.  I had been borrowing various headsets from Brendan at the time and while they all and great sound quality pay-off, my head is just too little that they weren’t all too comfortable, so it was time to order something that was a little more adjustable.

The Steelseries Siberia V2 Full Sized Gaming headset.  Here’s a crap picture of the box.  I meant to take a better one but I’ve already tossed it:

They come in various colours.  Of course, I picked out the Black & Gold edition (I couldn’t help myself), although some of the other colours were also pretty appealing (like the red or purple pair).

The perspective makes my hand look massive, but they’re really not haha.

Here’s a better photo of what they look like (from the Steelseries website, along with the very top product photo).

They’re pretty light and comfortable.  Not bad for extended wear, but my ears did get a little warm after a few hours.  While I’ve heard better sound quality from other headphones and headsets before this, the sound isn’t bad at all.  I was pretty pleased with the comfort and sound payoff from these considering the price.  I didn’t expect them to sound as good as they do.  I just wish there was some way of regulating game volume and the volume of the people you’re speaking to.

The mic is great.  It hides on the left earpiece and is retractable so you can tuck it away into the left earpiece when not in use.  The arm of the mic is also bendy so you can adjust it to your liking.  I suppose this also allows you to use them as a normal pair of headphones as well.  I’ve used mine to listen to music on my computer when I’m not using them for skype or games but I haven’t used them outside of that.  From what I’ve been told by friends, they can hear me just fine and clearly through my mic so that’s also good to know 🙂

For anyone looking for an affordable gaming/computer headset, I’d recommend these.  They’re not wireless but they’ve got an extra long extension cable included in the box.  SteelSeries has them priced at about $90 on their website.  I scooped mine up on Amazon (like with most things) and got them for slightly less ($74.20 Prime eligible). Click HERE to buy them on Amazon.com.

What headsets do you like and recommend?

xoxo
