Now that it’s fall outside and soon it’ll be winter, it’s time to bundle up! Keeping warm during the chillier months is very important, to both us and our pets. Make sure you keep your pups nice and warm, especially short-haired breeds, by finding them a cozy jacket.
Presley has quite the collection now and has grown to love wearing all of them.
When buying a jacket for your fur baby, choose one that is durable, lightweight and well-fitting. The jacket should be snug enough that it doesn’t shift around, but not too tight that it restricts movement or causes discomfort. Pick jackets that have materials that suit the environments that your dog is going to be out in. If you live in a rainy or snowy area, picking something that is a little more water-resistant rather than fluffy is best. For milder climates, sometimes a nice dog sweater will do just fine.
Presley normally wears his red winter jacket when he goes out for walks in the evening. The outsides are a windbreaker material and the inside is lined with a warm, soft fleece.
In the photo above, my mom bought him a fancy new shearling jacket. Brendan says he looks like he’s dressed up like Bane from The Dark Knight haha guess that pug mask is fitting too then.
Check out your local pet stores and boutiques and find a jacket suited for your pup! It’s best to bring them along to test out the fit. Practice putting the jacket on in the house and get them used to wearing them. Petsmart has some great weather resistant jackets. Sometimes you can even find great deals at places like TJMaxx and Homegoods on jackets and sweaters.
