Its only right that i post pictures of my beloved Presley when he was a puppy. He was such a little sweet potato from the moment I got him. I have to admit, I was very lucky in that he wasn’t too difficult to deal with in terms of size, behavior and cuteness 🙂
Puppies can be the biggest joy to come into your life but they also take a bit of work, my dearest pug was no exception to this. There were shoes lost, accidents and ‘presents’ left on the floor, but with all the naughty things Presley did, came learning experiences that brought him to being the wonderful pug pal he is to me today!
With good deeds and great behavior should come love, reward, recognition and happiness.
First off, you should teach your new puppy his or her new name 🙂 To do this, I would always say his name whenever I would speak to him, and I spoke to him often. To get his attention, instead of whistling or making some sort of sound, I always called Presley by his name. He quickly took to this, a tasty treat for him for being good and as a reward to me, the cutest little head tilt ever!
To keep Presley from chewing up my shoes, purses, furniture and other belongings, I made sure he always had toys to play with. When your puppy attempts to use one of your things as a chew toy, be sure to always take that item away and replace it with one of their dog toys. By always making sure to do this, your puppy will soon understand that chew time is for puppy toys only. This also helps them understand what are their belongings. Presley now has a little puppy tent full of toys that he frequents.
Taking your puppy on fun adventures allows them to explore and brings fun and excitement for the two of you. Presley’s first big adventure was to the beach. Make sure your pup gets a good amount of exercise and interaction. This builds the bond between the two of you and also makes sure you never get bored or have a dull moment.
Last tip of this entry is ‘Take Pictures’! They grow up so fast and before you know it, that puppy smell, velvet coat and teeny tiny paws will become an adult dog. Cherish those sweet puppy moments! Presley is such a ham for the camera now 🙂
